The 27 th Footman James Bristol Classic Car Show – 28 th/ 29 th January, 2006

RUNNER-UP BEST CLUB STAND AWARDED:

Less than two weeks after our successful participation in this years Autosport International and the Racing Car Show, the Club was once again on the road to another venue for a Club stand at The 27 th Footman James Bristol Classic Car Show, held at the West of England Exhibition Centre, Shepton Mallet, Somerset .

Members will be aware that we have been keen supporters of this event and have over the past years produced new displays for launch at this event. This year was no exception and we really went to town with what I felt was our best stand yet, ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Volvo in the Wardrobe’.

The stand featured Members of the Clubs Display Team dressed to compliment the theme and two, ‘original Volvo’s’, Colin & May Tatlow’s 1958 Volvo PV444 08 and Fred Price’s 1968 Volvo 131. A backdrop painted by Dave and Jackie Hunter of a winter and summer scene and a Wardrobe from which, Fred’s 131 emerged. The famous Streetlight was also in attendance plus once again our popular manikin children, a feature of many of our displays.

Once again, which seems a regular occurrence, we were pipped to the winning post by only one point, to be placed in second place for Best Club Stand. My thanks to all those who helped build and man the stand and also those Members and visitors who came along to give and show their support.
