Our stand at this year’s show celebrated the 50th Birthday of the Volvo P1800 which was built by Jensen Motors in Kelvin Way, West Bromwich from 1961 to 1963.
Our Club Stand – titled ‘The Summer of ‘61’ depicted a beach scene complete with sand, Punch & Judy Stall etc; etc.
Building of the stand took place on the Friday afternoon by Members of the Club’s Display Team, with help from Kevin’s girls Treena and Kerris, who expertly organised the beach scene in front of the Punch & Judy Theatre, with their buckets and spades, sand castles etc.
Cars on display were John Sullivan’s Jensen built 1963 P1800, which he had only a week earlier returned to the road following his 6 year full restoration and Colin & May Tatlow’s 1957, American Spec PV444-08.
The show over the Saturday and Sunday was a great success and our congratulations to John whose P1800 won a ‘Highly Commended Award’ in the Judging on the Sunday.
Thanks to all those Members who came along and supported the event and to the Clubs Display Team, plus John, Colin and May for displaying their cars on our stand.
See you all in November at the same venue for the Restoration Show
