DUMFRIES AND GALLOWAY SHOW JULY 2013

The day started off very wet and I didn’t appreciate the alarm going off at 5-30 am—however the VEC had been invited to attend the above show this was in conjunction with the Classic Wheels Club and we were their guests and in their display area curtsey of Graeme Muir. You will see from the picture that David with his Red 144 ”Poppy” is admiring his car while finishing off and ice cream (actually talking to his wife Heather who is in the car). Yes folks the weather did change-- by 12 -30 just spitting a little and by 2pm the hard standing we were on was dry Yes unusual --hard standing---we were at the Crichton College and making use of the facilities of all weather parking--No messy field no wet shoes and no stuck vehicles—all in all –a well run show—plenty of marshals on duty. The variety of vehicles brought back many memories which is one reason so many folk go---This year the selection was a little low due to the heavy rain in the morning This however did not stop us Volvo Enthusiasts—as you can see a 144 a 131 and a 145 were on show along with a dry place to sit for my two dogs The college was quite pleasant with old buildings in the red sandstone and new buildings built in keeping with the surroundings which made an extremely pleasant area to walk round and exercise the pups. So thanks to Graeme and Lesley for the invitation--- we enjoyed the show--- and whilst we were in nostalgic mode most of the time observing vehicles there were many youngsters there all interested in the great variety on show. Nice to meet up with club members and other like minded folk --Another point of note it was only £2 to enter This must be the cheapest value for money show ever---for the two quid you received a detailed program and a commemorative mug---how do they do it for that price. How about some of you other Volvo members coming along next time?
